So far, the dimension of the bottom tube (oval tube between the two bottom brackets) was limited by the width of the bottom brackets, 73mm. The new bottom bracket standard BB386 (86mm case width) now makes larger dimensions possible. The now more stable bottom tube makes it possible to eliminate the lateral tube * while still having the same ride quality and lateral stiffness. This leads to a significant reduction in the frame weight. While Santana were making such radical changes to thair frame design they also adopted industry standard 1 1/2″ – 1 1/8″ tapered forks and 31.6mm seatposts so owners can run any stem or seatpost they like
Of course, all Evolution tandems are also available with Santana's Z-Couplers for easy travel with the Safecase case.
The new standard equipment is equipped with the Ultegra Di2 2x11 drivetrain with a gear ratio that is comparable to the previous 3x10 drivetrain. Chainrings 34/50 alternatively 36/52 and 11-speed cassettes with 11-40 teeth, alternatively 11-42T (11-46T / 11-34 ...) and the rear 10 "disc brake Gen4 free of extra charge.

In a quest to develop the easiest tandem to own and use Santana created the Smooth. Clean, maintenance free belt drives and internal gearing mean it’s always ready to go for a trip into town or down the boardwalk. The perfect accessory for an RV or beach house, the whole family will want to get in on the fun. Two frame sizes each incorporate a telescoping stoker seatpost to accommodate a wide range of rider heights. Quality components and a butted 7000 series aluminum frame for lightweight durability. 26×1.5” tires are fast rolling but stable, puncture resistant, and comfortable.

ELITE-TANDEMS
Tandem
Santana uses only the finest tube sets for their handcrafted tandem frames. The "Spirit" uses seamless drawn, double-butted Spirit-Niobium tube sets with wall thicknesses of only 0.4 - 0.7 mm.
The Easton Scandium tube set used in the "Sovereign" saves another 400 grams. The approximately 15 kg light "Sovereign" is equipped like all Elite models with symmetrically spoked 32-hole wheels with Hadley hubs (Made in USA) and carbon fork.
Our Team Ti-700c is not only the most comfortable mass-produced tandem, but also the most durable and stable you can buy. Titanium combines the weight advantage of 7000 aluminum and the damping properties of Nivachrom/Niobium steel and is therefore noble, robust, easy to maintain and extremely durable.

Anyone who has test ridden a Beyond understands why it was the dream of every tandem enthusiast.>New Generation Evolution< It is the most comfortable, lightest and fastest tandem known to us. The Bi/Fusion™ technology combines the advantages of carbon and titanium materials.
During the production of the carbon tubes, the titanium end pieces are simultaneously baked in. This creates weldable carbon tubes that allow individual frame construction. In the connection area, titanium represents the optimum in strength to weight ratio. In the tube area, carbon is unbeatable. The Beyond frame, made from ultra-light Isogrid® Bi/Fusion™ tubes, weighs in at a magical 2580 grams for a medium frame size. For models from 2012, there are also the noble IsoGrid® PHD tubes, which are glazed in the transitions.

There are occasions when even a tandem is not enough. Young families more and more frequently sit on a triplet or even a quad. These tandems offer space for more than two people and, thanks to special children's cranks, even young children can pedal along diligently.
Santana built the first triplet back in 1979. More than 35 years later, Santana has improved many things, built hundreds of them and is the only manufacturer in the world that produces triplets in series.

Test ride
What to look for when buying a tandem? First of all, it is good to test a tandem. If you've never ridden a tandem before, you'll have a lot of fun on your first ride. Instead of renting a tandem or borrowing one from a friend, you should make an appointment to test ride it with us in our location in Rosenheim. Even if you have to plan a weekend for it, it is worth it. We want you to be properly introduced to riding techniques so that your first ride will be an unforgettable experience.
Frame size
Often tandem couples think they need a custom made frame because they are different sizes. However, Santana standard frames, exactly compensate for these size differences. Santana offers tandem sizes S, M and L as standard. If frame sizes, frame design or special features are not possible with a standard Santana frame, Santana is able to build a custom tandem for you.
Disassemblable tandems
For customers who like to take their tandem on vacation by car, train, bus or plane, Santana offers a perfect option with the disassemblable Z-couplings.
